Chinese robotaxi operator Pony Ai Inc (NASDAQ:PONY) on Tuesday announced a new lineup of autonomous trucks, which it said will cost less to build and operate for a longer lifespan.
Pony Ai said its fourth generation of autonomous trucks are designed for mass production on the thousand-unit scale, with initial fleet deployment set for 2026.
The company, which recently listed on the Hong Kong stock exchange, said the new trucks were designed for a service life of 20,000 hours up to 1 million kilometers of freight operation.
Pony Ai said it has a fleet of about 200 trucks after entering the autonomous market in 2018.
The company is among the largest robotaxi operators in the world, and operates primarily in China.
Autonomous vehicles came into increased focus this year amid bets that advancements in artificial intelligence could support the sector. Pony Ai, along with Chinese rival WeRide Inc (HK:0800), were also seen expanding into European and Middle Eastern markets this year.
